“The Caritas Affair” is the English-language adaptation of the eight-part podcast series Carambolage, originally released in Luxembourgish between April and June 2025.

The series investigates one of Luxembourg’s most astonishing recent scandals: the theft of €61 million from Caritas over a five-month period in 2024. The repercussions were severe. Caritas, a prominent advocate for social justice in the country, collapsed. The charity lost its over 500 employees and was forced to halt its operations both in Luxembourg and internationally.

With exclusive access to internal emails, confidential documents, and well-informed sources, journalists Pia Oppel and Jean-Claude Franck delve into a scandal where everything that could go wrong, did. The series explores the roles and responsibilities of key figures and institutions, including Caritas’s Chief Financial Officer, its management team, board of directors, affiliated banks, the Diocese, and the Luxembourg government.

Carambolage is the second season of Scene Change, the 100.7 documentary podcast. Scene Change is produced by Pia Oppel, Charlotte Bruneau and Léonardo Kahn.
